ROYAL STANDARD PICTURES.
The new programme a€ the l>ruids' Hall drew a crowded audience last night. The selection is an excellent one, and in "A Story of Circus Life," "The Mountaineer's Honour," the city has two of the finest dramatic pictures that have been shown in Nelson. "From Cabin Boy to King" is a romantic story of a kidnapped cabin boy who becomes a king of a savage tribe in the South Seas. "Miss"Annette Kellerman," in this scVies of views all of her gifts are exploited to greater advantage than they possibly could be shown in the narrow confines of the stage or in the constricted quarters of her tank. She opens with the physical culture exercises;- she is next seen' playing diabolo; the third section of the picture is devoted to her ishort Wives and fancy swimming. ■ The last section is devoted to her famous liigh diving into the ocean. "Chief Events in Eng-land.-1909,," embrace "the opening pf Parliament, the King's Derby, Oxford and Cambridge boat race, Boulter's Lock, introduction of the flying machine," and Dr Cook's reception "at Copenhagen, and great fleet of warships in the Thames." "The ■Unexpected Santa Claus," "Fido's Taking Way," "Almost," and "Drowsy Dick's Dream" are a most mirth,, provoking lot of comics, judging from ihe- screams of laughter they evoked." ,A first, class holiday bill will be repeated to-night; , .
