Mr Harold Churtoa, who has represented Messrs Sharland and Co., Ltd., in this district and on the West Coast for some years past, will succeed Mr J. H. Clay, who has resigned from the firm to go into business on his own account, in the TVanganui, Hawera, and Palmerston districts.

A London cable message states that Sir John Dickson-Poynder the Gov-ernor-elect of New Zealand, joins the Macedonia at Marseilles on the 12th prox.

A London press cable says that the Hon. Cyril Ward, Lord Dudley's brother, travels with Lady Dudley to Australia, where ho will spend three months.

Mr George Sutherland, of the Globe Hotel, will leave Nelson at the beginning of next month on a visit to South Africa.
