ANOTHER FIRE AT PALMERSTON

Palmersion North, April 13. The sixth big blaze within a week occurred just after four o'clock this morning, when the PalmGrston Sash and Door Company's large factory in Albert-street was completely demolished. The fire had a great hold, and was bursting out from all parts of the building when discovered. The roof was commencing to fall when tho brigade arrived on the scene. Everything in tho factory, including a large plant of up-to-date machinery and a big stock of sashes, doors, and dressed timber was completely destroyed, but the* glazing rooms, containing a heavy stock of glass, in a detached building, were saved. A. flour mill near by had a narrow escape. Trie company having recently gone into voluntary liquidation, the- millwas being run on a reduced staff. The nightwatchman was through tho buildings half "an hour" before* the outbreak, arid saw nothing-. Those on the scene early declare that the fire broke out in three places at once, and there are evidences of a man having slept in •* stable adjacent to the destroyed building. ' The factory was one of Palmerston s historical buildings. It was erected as a sawmill 35 years ago; seventeen years ago it was converted into a sash and" door factory; four years ago it was enlarged and brought up-to-dato ; with new machinery.
