Sir Robert Anderson, in a letter to "The Times," explains that but for the typist's accidental omission of the words "month of May," his confession of authorship would have been restricted as he intended to "The Times' " articles in May, 1887; These were based on newspaper reports. His aim. was to defeat a plot for a dynamite explosion at the Abbey on the occasion of Queen Victoria's Jubilee.
