VICTORIAN REPRESENTATIONS.
EXPLANATION BY -'THE TIMES." (Received March 31, 10.55 p.m.) London, March 31. Mr Tavcrnor, the Victorian Agent- ; General, interviewed "The Times" on ' the Victorian Government's immigration proposals. He said they spec- ' iall.v provided for married people, and made special provision for 'farm la- ' t bon re rs with families. "The- Times" remarks that its Australian correspondent ' recently spoke with appreciation of the exertions of the Victorian Government. That Government was not alluded to in the article on married immigrants, ; j any more than the New South Wales j Government was. 1 "The Times" emphasises the point that its correspondent's criticism was~ .' directed against the attitude of some c private, employers, and not against the action or inaction on the, part of the State Government.
