Tho decision of the Minister of Education, recently announced, to disi continue tbe payment of the speciai capitation grant of 9d per near to School Committees, was touched upon at the Auckland Education Board meeting to-day. The chairman (Mr C. J. Parr) said the grant to tho School Committees in this province last year totalled £1138 10s,, and largely helped the- committees in carrying out their work. Now, without any warning, the Minister .had withdrawn the grant, and his decision had aroused the storm of protest. It would thus bo incumbent on School Committees to make their financial _ arrangements in accordance with the reduced revenue. They all deplored. the Minister's action in cutting off the grant.
