Sir Ernest Shackleten is planning a purely scientific geographical expedition towards the end of 1911, and not competing with Captain Scott. bir Ernest Shackkton's bases will bo Cape Adair and Adeliland, and he will explore between Cape Adair and GaussThe staff will include some of his old companions, and Mr Douglas Mawson, of Sydney, will be scientific director. Financial support is already promised.
