The cricket match, Australia v. Manawatu, was commenced to-day. Tho \reather was overcast, but rain Veptoff. ■• The wicket was slightly heavy but was piot particularly difficult. Armstrong' and Gorry. stood out of thi6 Australian team. . Bardsley won, the toss and" sent Manawatu to the wickets. Tho innings closed for 87 runs after an hour and a half's play.
