MOTUEKA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At the last meeting of the Motueka Borough Council all the members were present, the Mayor (Mr F. \V. ', Thorp) in the chair. It was resolved that in the matter of compensation to the Church Trust for land in Greenwood street, that ■ the Mayor be appointed to represent 1 the Council. It was resolved that Crs Ryder and ' Fioy be appointed to inspect the I door of the generator house, with power to act. The Overseer's and Sanitary ln- ' specter's reports were read and considered. 1 It was resolved that applications be called for tho position of lamp-lighter * and caretaker of the' generator house. It was resolved that a portion of the footpath between Messrs Coppin's " and Bryant's premises be asphalted, ! when workmen are here from Nelson ' doing other work in the borough. : A deputation of residents of Whakarewa waited upon the Council, re the proposed work on the Motueka i river. Mr J. S. Wratt reported that the Whakarewa Trustees would- contribute £180, and it was resolved that L the Council increase their amount to £80. It was resolved that the Beach road •near J. Duncan's be widened. The address to the Governor on his [ forthcoming visit, was read and ap- ! proved, and a sum of five pounds was ' voted for expenses. It was resolved that tenders be called for the protective work at Whakarewa. Accounts were passed amountiflfe to £83 ' Is 9d.
