FATAL FIRE AT WINTON.

[United Peess Association.] Invercargill, Feb. 10. The Railway Hotel at Winton, an old wooden building of two stories, was completely destroyed by fire at six o'clock this morning. Thomas Mclnerney, who was in charge for the licensee, escaped from the building, but has not been seen since, and it is supposed that he re-entered the ■' place to secure the contents of the safe, and. was burnt to death. The insurances are in the New Zealand office, £700 on the building and £525 on the contents ; and £100 on the stock. Later. The charred remains of Thomas Mclnerney were found in the debris of the: Winton hotel fire. Pierces . hair-dressing saloon was also destroyed. The insurance was £200. The New Zealand Bank building was saved with difficulty.
