ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.

[United Press Association. J Christchurch, Beb 9. At the Addington live stock market there were good yardings of stock, but as the farmers were busy harvesting, the attendance was not up to the average. Fat cattle were irregular of sale at late rates. Store sheep were in good demand, all except backward lambs. Fat lambs showed a further rise in price, and fat sheep sold at last week's rates. Pigs were dull of sale. Store cattle were in fair demand and dairy cows sold well. There was a large yarding of store sheep, fully twice the number offered last week. The bulk consisted of rape fed lambs of which a considerable proportion were a good class. For forward Jambs there was a good demand at last week's prices, but for the poorer classes there was a decline of 6d'to 9d per head, as the supply was m excess of the requirements of the butchers present. There was a moderate entry of wethers, and these showed practically no change in values. Best rape fed lambs 6s 2d to 8s; forward wethers to 14 S 9d: medium 11s 6d to 12s 6d ; lighter £>s 6d to -lls ; two tooth ewes to 13s 9d ; and six to eight tooth ewes to 12s lOd. The entry of fat lambs totalld 6615. the largest number offered this season. There were some prime lots penned, but a considerable proportion were on the light side. These, however, sold remarkably well, and were firmer by about 9d per head. One fourth of the yarding approximately sold at 14s to 15s, about-one half at 13s to 13s lid and the balance at 10s 4d to 12s lid. The bulk thus making over 13s. There were 6035 taken for export, the demand being keen, and 580 were bought by butchers. The yarding of fat sheep was a comparatively small onci. There was a good demand for wethers for export, and as the supply of ewes was not beyond butchers' requirements, there was no change in values. Tho range of prices was'los'to 16s Bd, others 12s 3d to 14s 6d ; prime ewes lls 6d to 14s 9d; others 8s to lls; merino wethers 3s to 9s 2d. There were 239 fat cattle penned being mostly dealers' lines, and the quality was of good general average. At the opening of the sale nearly the whole yarding was passed, but afterwards all but seven or eight lots were sold. The sale was irregular, but prices showed practically no change, prime beef being equal to 20s to 225 : medium 18s Gd to 19s 6d, and cow and inferior 17s to 18s per lOQlbs. Steers brought £6 5s to £9 17s 6d; heifers £5 to £7 17s 6d; cows £4 7s 6d to £7 7s 6d. Veal calves formed a small yarding, and sold at 4s 6d to 51s. A small yarding of store cattle sold at late rates, yearlings making 26s to 335; 15 to 18 months £2 4s to £2 6s; 2 year steers £3 17s 6d ; 2 year heifers £3 2s 6d; 2* year steers £4 10s; 3 year stears £5 5s to £6 ss; 3 year heifers £4 4s to £4 15s ; dry cows £2 10s to £4 lls. Dairy cows were in good demand and realised £3 10s to £10. There was a small j'arding of pigs, and a dull sale for both fats and stores. Largo baeoners made 42s to 495 ; lighter 34s to 40s; equal to 4Jd to 4Jd per 1b ; largo stores 23s to 325 ; medium 17s to 20s ; and weaners 8s to 12s.
