HACKENSCHMIDT'S LONDON COMPANY.
Considerable interest has been created by the announcement of the approaching visit of George Hackenschmidt, the renowned wrestler and athlete, who, in conjunction with the English vaudeville entertainers, is to appear at the, Theatre Royal to-mor-row night and following evenings for a very brief season. Quite apart from the athletic exhibitions by the mighty ltussian and liis assistants, numerous elements of musical interest are contained in the programmes of the coming show, Blanche Carelli, a noted soprano, being a member of the new company. Students of physical culture will realise to what an extraordinary degree of perfection the 6cience of muscle culture can be brought without the aid of spring dumb-bells and elastic devices. It is pointed out that the series arranged by- Hackenscumidt is of an unusually comprcliCiiisire and refined character, inasmuch that the various exercises are all graphically described by MrKing Morgan, an English expert. Gunner Moir, the famous athlete, together with Alex. Bain, the Scottish giant, are to appear- as assistant demonstrators. A feature of the series is said to be the artistic posing by Hackenschmidt of the studies of the Greek masters, this effect being obtained by moans of an elaboratelj'draped cabinet brilliantly illuminated by electricity. Endurance tests also form part of this interesting display, while in lighter 'vein, a refined entertainment, consisting of monologues, magic, song, and story will be? provided by Clifford Esgell, a magician of note, and Mark Osborne, a humorist musical artist of considerable ability. Added to the above excellent bill of fare, films descriptive of Hackenschmidt's most recent international contests will be displayed per medium of the bioscope. Box plans for the brief season are at Jackson's, and day sales at Bolton's, next the Theatre.
