STOKE SCHOOL.

ANNUAL CONCERT. The Stoke school concert was held on Friday evening last, when in spite of the heavy rain the building was filled with, a very appreciative audience. Owing te several of the performers being absent on account of the weather, the programme arranged had to be somewhat altered, Out ihose present acquitted themselves ill aii- excellent manner, and the concert must be classed as equal to the best of former years. The programme opened with a pianoforte duet by Alabel Trask and Gladys Heath, and was well played. The pupils of the schooi sang-iiLight and Gay," "A Round," and "Farewell to Study." Recitations were splendidly given by Eva lYicConchie and Vi-ncen-t Biggar. A very fine .exhibition of physical drill was given by Cyril Dee, dim . Holtham, Ted Langbein, and Hairy Kenning, I who were in charge of Sergeants J . Trask and B. Ching. . an action song I "Joe the Railway Porter," was well I sung by a number of small boys and j girls, led by Alaurice Ching, who should in timo become a first class | porter. Phonograph selections were given ; by Air J. J. Langridge and were -much appreciated. A dialogue, '."Miss Alllligan's Girls," was splendidly acted by Lizzie Sparrow and her pupils. Alaud Miller, who possesses a very sweet arid pleasing voice, sang "Please Give Ale a Ticket to Heaven," and Anna Langridge, who gave "Life's Lullaby," received a very warm reception from the audience. This young, lady is the possessor of a very fine voice, which should be heard of iv future. An exhibition of clubswinging was well clojio by a number of school girls. Air D. ,H. AVilmot, who was assisted by his pupils in the class, sang "The Soldiers in the Park." Two splendid, dances, a jig by F. Jellyman-, R. Holtham, M. Miller; H. Beateon, and Lizzie Sparrow, and a Japanese fan dance, by Gladys aud Elsa'Heaih, ZelliHomaua, Anna Langridge and -.Vera Ching, were given, the movements being very gracefully performed. The , pro^ : gramme concluded with a song, "Good Night," by a number cf tiny girls, via., Nellie .'Allport, Phyllis Toms, Marjorie iAllport, Grace Aiil 7 lor, Lucy: Ching, who were dressed hi night drosses and caps, with lighted candles- in their hands. .' . Tiiis item made a very pretty ending to a splendid -evening's entertainment.'
