THIRTEENTH ANNUAL MEETING

The 13th annual meeting of the Nelson Rirle Association meeting was field at the Nelson Kittc-s orderly room on Saturday night. Captain G. H. Hammond occupied tho chair. SoigtMajor Colclougii was also present aud there was a large attendance oi representatives of tlie various corps and rifle, clubs. The secretary's report and the balance sheet were read and adopted. The balance sheet showed the receipts to be £73 12s 3d, and tlie expenditure £6(i 2s, leaving a balance to carry forward of £7 10s 3d. Iho secretary in his report stated, that the Association badly lelt the need of more target accommodation at Brightwater, having only four tagets to accomodate between 50 and 60 mm firing about 3000 rounds of ammunition for the day over five ranges. It meant the meeting had to be rushed to get through to catch the home wu id train. The secrotary also mentioned that the fact of the Association controlling the lr\ mc shield competition appeared to.be a step in the right direction judging by the number ot teams that competed on 9th November last.

Trask, M.L.C., Messrs J. Graham and R. McKenzie, Ms.P., W. Aitcheson Smith ; president T. M. Brown N.D.R.C, president Ditimmoncl, Tadmor D.R.C., Messrs W. Lock, F. Hamilton, W. W. Snodgrass, T. Pettit, A. P.. Aillport, T. Harford and C. J. P. Howard: chief executive officer, Lieut-Col Harkness ; range aud trench officers, Sergt Ala jor Colclough, Warrant Officer Redmond, Captain Hammond and Captain J. L. Ching ; secretary and treasurer Mr F. G. Glodhill; executive council, Nelson Rifles 1 , bergts Mitchcner and Frank; Waimoa do Sergeants A. W. Eden and G. Ford; Stoke do Sergts Jamieson and Corp Fisher ; Nelson Defence Club J. W. Milroy and A. G. Small.
The secretary drew attention to the amount collected from citizens (£10) last^year to provide funds for the citizens' match, otherwise this match would have had to be deleted from the programme, and it was resolved that citizens be waited upon again this year with the same object in view and a committee was set up to do the nccessarv canvass.
It was resolved to ask the Officer Commanding the District to present tho Irvine Shield (won by the A team Nelson Defence Ritto Club) at the next battalion parade. A hearty vote of thanks to citizens who subscribed towards the citizens' match, the Nelson Rifles for the use of their room, and to Captain Hammond (chairman) terminated one of the most interesting, meetings in the life of the'TCelson Rifle Association.
