ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.
[United Press Association.] Christchurch, Oct. 27. At Addington saleyards there was a good attendanice. to-day. The entries in some classes of stock were somewhat smaller than at recent markets, due no doubt to the bad weather experienced last week. The yarding of store sheep was rather small. More interest was taken in the sale, with the result that the various 1 lots changed hands at satisfactory price-s. Taken all round an advance of from Cd to Is pe<r head was noticeable. Forward wethers in wool made to 17s ; medium shorn wethers, 9s 9d to 10s 9d; half bred wether hoggets, 10s 9d. The yarding of fat lambs numbered upward^ of 500, proving more than sufficient for the requirements, consequently prices towards the close of the sale were considerably easier, there being a drop representing from 2s to 3s per head as compared with the previous week's sale. The range of pi-iocs Avas 6s 6d to 6s 9d. The yatr-ding of fat sheep was very small, and scarcely sufficient for the requirements, with the result that there was keen demand and a shaa-p rise in values. The opening prices -equalled at least on© shilling per head bettor than the prices of the previous market. As the sale progressed the demand hardened considerably, and prices showed an^ advance of at least two. shillings per head. The improved demand was due almost entirely to the short supply, and it ia probable that if a large entry comes' forward next week, that prices will recede to last week's rates. The range of prices was :— Prime wethers iii the wool, 19s to 23s 3d ; lighter, 13s lid to 18s 6d; prime shorn wethers, 14s to. 16s 8d : lighter, ■12s 2d to 13s 6dj woolly ewes, 14s 9d to _23i; shorn,, l2b 5d to 15s 6d; woolly hoggets, 16s 7d to 18s 6d; shorn hoggets, 12s 6d ; merino wethers, J.2s'.9d to 14s 9d. ; : The yarding of fat cattle numbered 280. headland included a large proportion, of useful steers aiid heifers. The demand for dairy cows was indifferent, and prices: ranged from £3 10s to £7 os. Fat calves, of which there was a good entry, made from 4s 6d to £2 11s. One extra heavy, which could not.be termed vcalor, made £4 13s. Fat pigs were fairly, represented, and met with an improved demand. Choppers realised to £4 ; heavy baconers, 55s to 655; and lighter, 48s to 545, equal to 4}d per lb ; heavy porkers made 38s to 435 ; lighter, 30s to 3s, equal to from 5Jd to 5Jd ler lb.
