(Special to "The Colonist.") Christchurch, Oct 27. At the Presbyterian General Assembly to-night the Rev J. Milne •(Auckland) gave notice to move "that this Assembly recognising the proposals of«the Budget now before the legislature in England as an attemptuito the uplifting and betterment of the social, arid moral life of the nation, hereby affirms its appreciation of tiie same, with the. hope and prayer thai members of the Home legislature ma^ be wisely guided and helped of , God in formulating into law what so much concerns the comfort and well being of so many of our kindred beyond the seas, and member with us of the Empire.".
