THE DRAINAGE SCHEME.
(To the Editor of "Tho Colonist.") Sir. — Allow me to suggest a panacea for our defective system as at present existing. Carry the sewage into deep waters direct by a tujuiel through Washington Valley, which is a sandstone formation, with the outlet at the Fifeshiro Rock. The sewage could bo enclosed in the' tunnel and let out with tJie ebb tide, every twelve hours. Tho spoil could bo utilised to reclaim the Council's area, of nearly 100 acres on the seaward side of Halifax street, and the. rents from the reclaimed land would more than pay tho interest. I am, etc.. Win. HADDOW.
