Eastern files report that Captain Pinto, commanding the artillery corps at Macao, was shot dead by a private in his company, while sitting in the guard room. ~ The is believed to be " of unsound mind. He deliberately marched into 'the room and shot the captain through the temple. A couple , of days before the tragedy Captain Pinto jokingly threatened to punish the murderer for interfering with flower beds.
