The death io announced of the Hori. G. F. RAchaadson, who was formerly the member for Mataura in the New Zealand Parliament, and who in the Atkinson Ministry at different times occupied the positions of Minister for Lands, Minister for Mines, and Minister for Agriculture. Our Christchurch " correspondent wires that tho commercial travellers of Canterbury have presented a handsome gold albert to Mr P. Foster, who has represented Messrs Skelton, Frostiek, and Company, Limited, in Canterbury for some years, and who is now leaving to take tip his headquarters in Greymouth on behalf of his firm. ■ ■ ■ - . A Press Association message siates thai Mr W. P. Cobham, the manager of the Bank of Australasia at Chrisieliurch, lias been appointed as manager of the Bank at Perth, and to have general charge of the Bank of Australasia's interests in Western Australia. Two grandsons of Dr Kirk, whose books on health subjects are well known, are now medical missionaries. They are Drs John and Edward Kirk, and are attached to the Canton Village Mission. The Otaki-"Mail" records the death of Mrs Atiria Tanehe, a well-known resident of Ohau, and statos that on the same day a few hours previously tlie death also occurred at Ohau o! her husband after a long illness. Mrs Floyd, an old resident of Hunterville, died the other day at the age of 92 years. Site left six soi:.';, three daughters, forty-eight grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren, and two great great grand children, A wire from Ashburton states that news has been received that Mr Arthur J. Friedlander, eldest son, of Mr Hugo Friedlander, has passed his medical examinations in all subjects at the London University, and is now a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. The executive, of the New Zealand League of Wheelmen lias appointed Mr Geo. Sutherland, of Nelson, o:;-^ of its timekeepers for the Tiniaru to Qhristchurch road race, to be ridden on Saturday. Mr Sutherland will leave for Christchurch to-moirow morning. Mr Dick Arnst will accompany Mr Sutherland on his return, and go into active training in view of the Foxton big handicap race early in December. Our Christchurch correspondent wires that the following resolution was unanimously passed on Sunday morning at the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church: "That the Church and congregation now mooting for worship in tho Oxford Terrace Baptist Church, desire to felicitate the Key. Decimus Dolamore upon completing the ninetieth year of his life. We thaark God for ail that lie lias enabled our brother to do in His service these many years, and rejoice that now at the age of four scoro amd ten years he is still able to me< t with us to worship tho Lord in H.s Kuictuarj-. Tho fact tha.t ho was tlm first Baptist minister and tho father of our denomination in New Zealand, would of itself be sufficient to ensure that we in common with all of like faith and order throughout tlm Dominion should always hold him i.M the liighest esteem. When to this is I added the remembrance of his longcoiitimied Christian service, and the ' many graces of his character, it i? obvious that he occupies a very warm place in our affectionate regard.
