Andersen to suggest a Canterbury pageant. Writing to the papers he remarks that, at the close of next year, the province will be celebrating its diamond jubilee, and, as some ceremony is almost certain to mark that epoch, why not let that ceremony take the form of a pageant ? There are many incidents of both romantic and historic interest that could be represented without much trouble. Two infants of Masdames Hogan and Motley were left in a perambulator in Central Market, Adelaide, while the mothers went shopping. Suddenly the perambulator started, and ran in front of a horse attached to a vehicle. The animal became frightened, reared, and brought his fore feet on top of the peramulator, smashing it and injuring the- children severely. One baby's face was crushed, and the other sustained a sorious injury to the back.
