Christchurch, April 21

. Ernest Hancock and William Hutchmson, two young men, were charged at the Magistrate's Court with assaulting and robbing Henry John Lawrence, of Ashburton Forks, of £65 ia money, and a cheque for £22 10s, on April 13. The evidence was that whilst returning from the Riccarton races in a public drag, the two accused rifled Lawrence's pockets, others in the drag not interfering, though Lawrence screamed when accused robbed him. • Both were committed for trial.
