HONOR WHERE IT IS DUE
At the Chamber of Commerce gathering on Monday, Mr C. Y. Fell voiced what is a very general feeling when he referred to the amount of credit due to Captain Collins,; the harbourmaster, and pilot, in connection with the visit of the Rakaia. Mr Fell said that as harbourmaster a serious responsibility rested upon Captain Collins, for it was for him to declare that the port was safe for the vessel ; then as pilot ib was his duty to prove it to be so by safely bringing the vessel in. This demanded an amount of cool courage that was considerable, and Captain Collins had, to his mind, discharged his responsible duties perfect-
Since those remarks were made, Captain Collins has completed . his work by safely piloting the vessel out of harbour. He is a Nelsonian, for it was from Nelson he as a youth, entered his profession, and a number of citizens, to our knowledge, are .of opinion that it would be only a fitting thing if Captain Collins received some souvenir of .the occasion. We understand that this matter will be brought bofore the Council of the Chamber of Commerce.
