Received April 10, 0.30 a.m. ; Melbourne, April 9. The Minister of Defence says the estimates preparatory, to the cost of tho new military defence scheme wdi be £580,000, -and tho cost for the farst year £1,200,000 ; for the £1,248,000; for the third. £1.301,000, and for the fourth £1,325,000. The naval scheme will cost in the first year £817,000: in the second, £1092.000, and in tho third, £720,000/ :
