ELECTORAL CASE.

Gisborne, March 19. At the Magistrate's Court G.'Darton, runner-up to Mr Carroll, Native Minister, at the recent general election, was charged with committing an illegal practice by paying money on account' of hire of vehicles for the conveyance of electors on the day of the second ballot. It was stated that the case, if substantiated, would have to go to the Supreme Court for trial. An adjournment till Monday was granted .on the application of the defence.
