Petitions from Captain Hansen, of the Dunmore, and the Merchant Service Guild, asking for the restoration of his. certificate,, or a rehearing of the case, were not acceded to by the Governor. . '■ ' . : ■ ■ r ■ (Captain Hansen was master of the Duhmore,' the steamer which collided with the pinnace of H.M.S. Encounter, off Garden Island, when 15 bluejackets were drowned. The Marine Court found Captain Hansen at fault in not keeping a proper lookout, and suspended his certificate for twelve months. The finding of the Coroner was that the disaster was due to the negligence of the coxswain of the pinnace,, and that there was no default on the part of the master of the Dunmore.)
