It has been pointed, oub to us that the rail running along the middle of Alton street is dangerous to traffic at night .. time, and that several narrow escapes from collision have occurred recently. This is stated to be due to the fact that on . turning into the street from Nile street, the light from the street lamp i at the intersection of Nile and Altoji streets throws a reflection at -the back of the cyclist or driver, and with the lamp in the distance in Hardy street makes the sou--hern end of the rail indistinguishable \intil it" is reached. The danger :f collision is also said to be enhanced by the rough condition in which the r-treot has been left after the excavation for drainage works. It is suggested that a lamp at the place.indicated would obviate the danger.'
