[United Pbbss Association.] , Auckland, Feb 5. .Dr Findlay, IVliiiister of the Interior, and Magistrates Kettle 7 sind Northcroft, paid a surprise visit to the Pakatoa Inebriates" Home and found the inmates at dinner, and expressed satisfaction with the food and the Salvation. - Army management, generally. Replying to a protest against commitments for two years by Southern Magistrates, the Minister jsaid that if a man, by good conduct, could satisfy the officers that he could be trusted at large, and- that he was. cured of the drink habit, the Gbverninent -would.. favourably _consider and recommend a 'remission of part of the sentence.
