[United Pbess Association.] Christchurch, Feb 5. -. j The co-operative; workers on *. the railway extension works -at Domett have written at some length to. Hon, E. MbKenzie,, Minister of 'Public' W^orks, on the subject of delay in the. payment^ of their wages. ' The latter, alleges'that they started/ oh October 6th, and -that they h%ve received only two^ days' pay between 'that and : the present. They, cannot understand By what method of calciilatibtf' 'the Minister 'aniyes -"at the "conclusion that 'monthly payments" are beingadhered to. '' They ask for compensation- for "the suspension; of contracts between, December-, 24th . and .January stlv alleging that/ they., were 'willing to; work T)ut-: were "not allowed ,to do so. ~ The letter is- signed.'.by fiftyfive men.. !Oh. Tuesday some of the men appealed; for. an advance .of pay,' "but were -refused, and ih consequence ; Mr Campbell/ president; of : the union, sent therf ollowiug wire to Sir Joseph Ward:r "Co-operative* workers— at Domett have not .received any wages for seven weeks. Please, Sir,.. would ybu.deal us out a, few shillings each arid -keep, us believing." .'
