Auckland, Feb. 1. Interviewed by a "Star" representative thi3 morning, the Premier said the Timber Commission would consist of ten members. The sawmillers would be asked to nominate two members, the middlemen twb^ : the representatives of the Work- • ers' Union two, tho builders "one, and the Government three. The Commission will sjt in the four centres and take. evidence to enable the\
Government and Parliament to know every side of the problem upon which a diversity of opinion exists. A timber ring has been accused of keeping nrices up, and the fact that timber has gone up enormously in price during recent years needs some explanation. The' question .whether the imports of Oregon pine has been responsible for the decrease in the output from our; mills will also be goner, info, and likewise the subject of the available supplies of timber. . .. •
