♦■ Our Murchison correspondent telegraphs that Mrs Owen Lynch, a well mown resident, died at Korere on ..xonday. The body was interred at jdurchison yesterday afternoon, there oeing a very large attendance at the funeral. Mr George Walker has been re-ap-poihted a memfcer of the Nelson Land Board. Dr James ■■"•Hudson, of Tapawera, has been appointed a Major of the New Zealand Medical corps. Dr W. Hardwicke Smith, who has been appointed as medical superintendent of Hospital,- is to be married in a few weeks to Miss Triggs, daughter of Mr W. Triggs, editor of the Christchurch _ "Press." The "Winton Record" reports the death of Mr James M' Arthur, at the age of 75. Mr M'Arthur was among the. first ; councillors, of Winton and twice. Mayor. He had resided at Winton for thirty-seven years. The friends of Mrs G. P. Donnelly of Hawke's Bay, will regret to hear that her health is not so satisfactory as was hoped since her return from Sydney, where she underwent a serious operation. ..- Mr:W. D. Campbell, who stood for Timaru in the Opposition interest at the last election, has been presented by his supporters with a_ purse_ of a hundred and fifty sovereigns, in recognition of his efforts on that occasion. ■ The friends of Mr Claud Hall, , of Waimea West,- who met with a serious accident the other day. will be pleased to leant that he is making favourable progress towards recovery.
