CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN.
A GRAND JURY'S RESOLUTION

• . Auckland, Nov. 11. Prior to the- discharge of the Grand Jury at the session of the Supreme Courts the' foreman submitted to. Mr J'usticj Eawurds the following unaninioiis resolution:— "That .tbe^ Grand .Jury lias the utmost horror and ; concern at the con,:.ti'nued- increase in crimes .of- indecent assault on young children, .and respectfully urges taat whenever a prisoner is ; .-found.- guilty of this offence,, the most drastic " form of punishment should be meted out to him." His Honour said that be agreed with the jury, and deplored the ter- . ribla increase in guck tftf 3nCBS- .1- HtS wished sometimes-: tnat Cbe duty or dealing with these casus fell on aomeone else. There were some very difficult cas"es. He bad nothing further to say under the :cricumstances except to make a recommendation, but he cbiild assure tbem that .thefabtai .caused 1 hiinr- .'quite . a3> ; inucb anxiety as they had given the jury.
