Messrs John Graham, M. P. , Francis Trask, M.L.0., and Frederick William Flanagan have been gazetted as School Commissioners for the provincial district of Nelson.
The new Mayor of Dunedin, Mr 7. McDonald, i 3 the Urst bafcchelor to be elected' to the position of the chief magistrate of the southern city.
Mr H. D. Bedford will be a candidate in the Government's interest for the Dunedin North seat at the General election.
Mr S. (Jarnell, a former member of the House, says he' will be a candidate, for Napier at the coming general elections.
Mr Robert Saott, of Kyeburn; Mr John Bennett of Coal Creek I Mr A. pPraser, of Lawrence; and Ur. Ohappel, of Wellington, are nentioried as candidates for the va•ant Tuapeka seat iv Parliament.

The death of Sir Henry CampbellBannerman is not without certain melancholy interest of a most personal character to residents of this State (writes the Perth correspondent of the "Sydney Herald"), from the fact that his brother, the late Mr John Campbell, of Tullechewan, Scotland, is buried in the old cemetery at Fremantle. John Campbell was OD gaged in business in Calcutta, being a partner of Sir Lyon Playfair, and was Btricken with dysentery. Four years ago he was ordered to remove to Hobart as the only chauce of saving his life. He travelled by the mail steanaar Australian, but had to leave the vessel at Fremantle, and died a few hours after being put ashore.
