NAVAL COALING DEPOT AT AUCLAND.

Auckland, April 14. A letter received from the Vice-Admiral regarding the establishment of a depot for the storage of coal for tbe use of tho Navy at Auckland, has been referred to the Harbor Board. It appears at present the Wes ;porfc Coal Company keeps a reserve of five hundred tons for the Nnvy, which has been found sufli cient to meet tho demands. It was stated at the Harbor Board meeting that if modern appliances were adopted tne cost of handling the coal j could be lessened by live shillings ; per ton. The ltoard v/ill consider the matter.
