ALLEGED PILFERING AT CHRISTCHURCH FIRE.

Christchurch, February 12. -

A good deal of pilfering went on at the great fire on Thursday night, and at the Police Court to-day Peter and Edward Power were charged with having stolen £5 worth of drapery, the property of the Wellington Woollen Company, and drapury of the value of over £20, the property of Gott Bros. The accused were remanded on bail.

Wellington, February 12,

Detective Cassels yesterday arrested a man named Georgo Baynes, wbo was endeavoring to sell a new pan of trousers in a second-hand shop. The man's room, on being searched, contained boxes of goods valued at £50, stolen from Ross and Glonditiing's during the recent Christclniich fire. The accused admitted the theft, and was remanded to Christ church. -
