EQUANIMITY OF TOE PEOPLE
Received Feb. 12, 10. li p.m. London, February 12. The "Times' " Lisbon correspondent, comments on the incredible equanimity wherewith the assassinations were regarded by the population.
Tee "Standard's" correspondent says the rpgicide was considered a justifiable act, and no real effort is beirg made to discover the acooraplices. Subscriptions are being raised for the assassins' families. Republican newspapers demand a criminal prosecution of King Carlos' equerry, who sabred one of the assassins. According to some accounts, the public feel that Franoo was too precipitate in abolishing sinecures wholesale. He endeavored to divide parties and then rule an a dictator.
