ENTERTAINMENT AT TRAFALGAR PARK.

Tbe variety entertainment, at Trafalgar Park on Saturday evening, arranged by the Nelson Citizens' Band," assisted by several members of the crews of H.M.S. Pioneer and Pyramus, was a decided success in every way. There was a very large attendance, and the respectable sum of £24 10s was taken at the gates. The Citizens' Band rendered several selections in a pleasing manner, but the Jack Tars were a host in themselvesj and their efforts to please the large audience were highly successful* Carpenter's Mate (H.M.S. Pioneer) was in good voice, and sang "Boys of the Old Brigade" and the "Deathless Army" splendidly. Steward Walker (H.M.S. Pioiieer) scored a hit with his comic song "Mr Knick - Knock," and afterwards danced a sailor's hornpipe very cleverly. Steward Saxty (Pyramus) rendered the "Singing Master" in good style. Signalman Bright* (Pioneer) is the possessor of a [splendid voice, and was encored for his rendering of "The Singer was Irish." Seaman Johuson(Pyramus) sang an amusing parody, which was well received. -Messrs Aydon and Hindley played a tambourine and bones duet in good style, and a tiouple of new record 3 were given from Mr F. N. Jones, junr's, magnophono, the reproduction of an overture played by the Besses o' th' Barn Band being loudly applauded. The services cf Mr T. Shone, j uni., as accompanist were invaluable, and a lady from the" audience played the sailor's hornpipe in excellent time. Dancing on the green was freely indulged in by the sailors, the music beiog supplied by the Band. After the performance in the Park the bluejackets were entertained at a social by the Band, and a very pleasant hour was spent. The Citizens' Band was invited by the concert company of 11. M.S. Pioneer to visit the warship yesterday afternoon, but much to the regret of the local bandsmen the visit had to be abandoned owing to the rough weather.
