N.A.S.C SPORTS MEETING.
On Saturday afternoon the Nelson Amateur Swimimng Club held i very successful sports meeting at the Port. The leather was and there was a considerable fljpl-iiiUlln^ of the fair sex. The events which were keenly contested by good Holds, were got offwithout tedious delays, and the conduct of the meeting reflected the highest credit on the officials. The raoe for men-ofwarsthen^ for which Mr C, H. Coote oji'ered # gold modal* attracted foutt^orj erttries, and was won after being contested in two heats by Seaman Holraan, of H.M.S. Pyramus. The sports concluded with a polo match, Town v. Port, which after an .interesting contest, was won by tho former by two goals to nil, boing scored by Pettit, after good passing." Each member of the winning team was tho recipient of a silver badge presented by Mr F. Harford. Mr P. 0. Hurat acted as referee in the polo match.
