A SMART CAPTUEE. Whangarei, Febrilary 4. Last night Mr Fred Bruce, when proceeding home, was waylaid by two men. who drew revolvers. The muzzle of one revolver was pressed against Mr Brace's face, while another was pressed against his neck, and his money or his life was demanded. He handed over to the men all he then possessed, after which he was allowed to depart. The police set out this morning in a motor car, and overtook the two men at Otaika. On the men being searched, revolvers, ammunition, and sheath knives were found upon them. They admitted the offence when charged, and also admitted breaking into and robbing a store at Waipu a week ago.
