AMUSEMENTS

O'NEILL'S BUCK JUM PERS: O'Neill's Buckjujiipers and Company open theii* Nelson season oh Milton's Acre on Saturday evening, when the enclosure was densely crowded- The lighting of the arena was not all that it might have beeri, the fitful glare of the lamps being disconcerting aiike to tbe\performers and the spectators. Nevertheless a very successful and unique entertainment was given and the satisfaction of those preseht was amply testified. Great amusement was oreated by the efforts of several local equestrians to "back the bucking broncho," none of them remaining in tbe saddle for a suffioient length of time to claim the prize. A feature of the performance was the exhibition of equestrian skill given by Air E. O'Neill, whom tho most frantic bucking failed to unseat. "Saltbush Bill" demonstrated his ability to crack and perform sundry feats with the longest of whips*. He flicked the ash from ! _igaiette_ held by himself and an attendant: drew a" cork from a bottle with a flick of the lash and afterwards cut the neck of tho bottle. Tbe Barnards gave a wonderful exhibition" of fancy rifle shooting their "item" beinc one of tho most interesting of the evening. The hurdling and bareback riding was also excellent. The company will appear again to-night and to-morrow night, when the Nelson season will terminate. ?■
