Government's serious attention ; that \ their proposals are inadequate to allay discontent ; and that comprehensive reforms were required. Mr Morley ridiculed such confident judgments after juat a six weeks' tour in India. He assorLed the suggested reforms would bs fallacious, and that India's condition showedjin enormous arid etxraordin I ary improvement since the present Government had entered office. The amendment was withdrawn. The newspapers comment Mr Morley's broad and sympathetic policy.
