ANNUAL PICNIC. Tho annual picnic of the .patients of the Nelson for Mental Diseases was held at tho Richmond Park on Wednesday last, about in. taking part in what proved to bo a most successful o,uting%. All a.ppeareu to fcbdroHffbly enjoy the train journey there and bactr, entraining at ' B:shppdale at 10. 15 a.m. and detraining at Oarsman's . Corner, a consideration which tho railway authorities yearly permit, as it saves a long walk home when. all aro tired out. The concession is keenly appreciated. On airririnp at. the Park! cricket, . idotball. .founders, , etc, * wore taken part in by both male and female inmates, together with tue staff and friends.
After lunch races of various kinds tugs-of-war, etc., were heartily taken part in, the aacu race and alrio the obstacle race proving . very amusing. AJlarge r?ck cover was held down on each side and the competitors on their knees at one and, at a given signal crawled under tho immense cover to the other openingi Ifc was surprising how quickly some of the competitors accomplished what appeared to be an impossible feat. All arrived home safely at about 8 p.m. after a really good day's outing^
