V.M.C.A.
To mark the close of the V.M.C.A, gymnasium session, *a supper was held ( in the V.M.C.A. Hall last evening, which was largely attended, and a very pleasant time was spent. The President (Mr T. M. Grant) piesided,. and a toast list, with songs and recitations interspersed, provided a long programme, co thai it was fully eleven o'clock befdre the proceedings came to a cl6_le" Several excellent addresses weird given in the course of proposing and responding to the toas'.s, |those ftho took part in this way, and in contributing to the harmony being the Chairman, Messrs F, V. Knapp, Thos. Field, Lang, G. Page senr., W. W. Snodgrass," Bredbury, E. Webley, Shone, Brady, Cullen, V. Webley, H. Jones, G.L. Sievw right, H. Anstice, A. Stevens, and P. Webley. During the eveniqg,Mr A. Stevens Hon. Instructor of the Gymnasium Class, was presented with a writing desk as a mark of appreciatiop|of his service^,, and the esteem, in which he is held by members. The Chairman voiced the feelings of "gratitude bf the class towards Mr Stevens j'for hi_3 endeavors on their' behalf.';" Mr Stevens suitably acknowledged the gift, and expressed bis pleasure at the progress the members of the class had made. - ___
