In the unavoidable absence of the Chairman (xMr E. Hounsell), Captain Stiles was voted to the chair, and in his introductory remarks stated the purposes of the gathering. All formal stiffness was to be avoided, and the evening's programme had been divided into three parts

with a view of this. The firdt part consisted of a musical programme, songs being contributed by Messrs Glover (2), Stobans (2) and Oondel (2), whilst Mr J. Krahagen gave a stump; speech, all the items being applauded. The Chairman in making the presentation referred to the fact that something like one hundred and fifty players had taken part in the tournament, and that the most friendly feeling had been shown throughout. The Association was formed as the outcome of a suggestion by the Anglers' Club," and it had been taken up heartily by the contesting teama The result was remarkable for the closeness of the teams, only one or two games separating eight of them. He was sure all those engaged were too generous to regret the result, the championship for the first year having fallen to the Maitai Bowling Club. The interest taken in the tournament by players and the public augured well for the success of next year's tournament. They were indebted to Mr P. Harford for \ his generous gift. (Applause).) It had stimulated the tournament. There were one or two matters, that required the Association's attention, especially the matters of players nominating for one team and the interrupting by nonplayers during the progress of games.
