EVIDENCE OF LOYAMT. _ Received August 20, 11 p.m. |London, August 20. Router's Pretoria correspondent wires that the Assembly, by 42 to 19, resolved to present the Cullinan diamond to K>ng Edward. General Botha pleaded for unanimity in order to make the gift national, and he declared that the Government did not contemplate fresh taxation. Sir G. Farrar dissented regretfully, owing to the acute distress amongst many loyal subjects of the King. He felt sure that King Edward would prefer that these should be assisted rather than that he should receive a "gift which was inopportune and unjustifiable* The Labor members supported the Government. Capetown, August 20 Dt Jameson explained to the Assembly that the Government waa bound to release Morenga when hostilities ceased. It was arranged that he should reside at Upington, and the police,were instructed to watch to prevent his recrossing the frontier'without a magistrate's permission. He evaded their vigilance and pursuit, and succeeded in recrossing. The Government extremely regretted the untoward incident. IReceived August 20, 9.8 p.m. | £ Pretoria, August 20. General Botha moved in the Assembly a resolution expressing deep gratitude for tbe grant Jantonomy, believing that it would promote concord and contentment, advance national unity, and strengthen bonds uniting the^ and South Africa. ;. fcSir G. Farrar seconded the niotioc which was carried unanimously.
