Auckland, August .lß. The steamer Navua, which arrived here from the Pacific Islands yesterday, brings news of the supposed loss of the schooner Scharlotte, and many lives. The schooner, which was owned and sailed by Captain A. W. Gordon Mackay (who was known as the Copra King), left Tonga on July 12th for the island of Nivafoon, a two days' journey, and she has not been heard of since. She had on board sixty natives bound for Nivafoon. When the steamer Navua visifc od the group the schooner had been out three weeks, and up to [six days ago nothing had been beard of her.
