THE ROTORUA RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

Auckland, August 14.

The adjourned inquest respecting the recent railway accident closed at a quarter to five o'clock this evening. The jury retired and returned in an hour and a half with the following verdiot:— That Guard Lowe came by his death as the result of injuries freceived through an accident to the Rotorua goods tram on August 3rd, owing to the vehicles receding from the vicinity of the Forty-eight mile peg, when the engines were detached through a partial failure of the second engine ; thafthe evidence was too conflicting to justify them in saying why the vehicles receded.
