THE RAILWAY.
At the City Council meeting last night Or. Hampson moved that a committee of the Council, consisting of the Mayor, Crs Grace and Lightband, be set up to co-operate with the Inland Communication League and assist any other effort to secure railway comirunication by way of the Contra 1 Buller. He urged the importance of the work and the necessity of doing their utmost to secure railway communication. Cr. Bialey seconded the motion and expressed the hope that all would work shoulder to shoulder to attain the object, recognising that every additional mile of railway would greatly advantage .Nelson and the district. Crs. Grace and Lightband and the Mayor all strongly supported the motion, the latter alluding to the extent of country which would ba opened up between Nelson and Reefton whilst on the Canterbury section there was little land to be opened till they approached Greymouth. Tb.e motion was carried unanimously. (The meeting on Monday night promises to be an enthusiastic one. )
