WELLINGTON RACES. ' THREE JOCI-EYS INJURED. (Per Press Associiation. ) Wellington, July 24. The Wellington Winter meeting was continued to-day in fine weather. The attendance was large, and tbe sum of £18,388 passed through the totalisator, as against £15,441 last year. The successful combination double — tbe Wellington Steeplechase and Waterloo Handicaps— paid £29 15s. Seventeen horses started for the Jumpers' Flat Handicap, and shortly after the start Prospector fell at the track leading across the track, from the scraping sheds, and brought Bonbeur, Needlework, Re s -grove, Le Beau and Hat'ey down. The horses were not hurt.' Henry Fairbrother, tbe rider of Prospector, fractured several, ribs, put his thigh out, and sustained some internal injuries. He was taken to the Wellington Hospital. J. McGregor, the rider of Le Beau, fractured his collar bone. Joe O'Connell, the rider of Needlework, received a cut over one eye and a shaking. The others were unhurt. The results were: — Glasgow Handicap, five furlongs; Jolly Friar I, lntelligence 2, Gawain 3. Won by three parts of a length. Dividends £6 5s and 14s. Karori Hack Handicap, six furlongs: Martyrium 1, Wakaraka 2, Pearlie 3. Won by two lengths. Dividends, £4 4s and £1 2s. -Second Hack Hurdles, one mile and a half: Regulation 1, Aotea 2, Waipu 3. Won by a length and a half. Dividends £16 lis and £3 7s. Wellington Steeplechase, three miles and a quarter: Haydn 1, Evenlode 2, Khama 3. Evenlode made a great effort to overtake Haydn, who had assumed a lead of several lengths. They rose at the last fence together and after a splendid finish, Haydn secured the verdict by a head. Khama was ten lengths away. Dividend, £4. Waterloo Handicap, seven furlongs: Seaman 1, Medallist 2, Mataari 3. A slashing race which was won by a nose. Dividends, £2 18s and £1 3s.

Jumpers' Flat Handicap, one mile md a quarter: Southern Cross l,Ben , fohnson 2, St. Alberts. Won|by two lengths. Dividends £9 13s and „ £2 17s. Tborndon Hack Handicap, five furlongs: Nukutihi 1, Warlook 2, Oblivion 3. Won by half a length. Dividends £17 2s and 17s.
