SCHOOL BAZAAR

The bazaar and sale of work in aid , of the building fund of the proposed ( new Schoolroom for St. John's Me- j tbodist Church was opened in the , Druids' Hall on June 26 by \ his Worship the Mayor. Mr Smith, - the Superinendont of the School, at , half past two invited the iMayor . to [ perform the ceremony. Mr Piper ■; s-iid he had much pleasure in per- ( forming the duty, d,s he was in sympathy with Sunday School Work, which tended to the spiritual welfare of tho young, and fitted them for the battle of life. Their old School building had had its day, and if it could epeak what memories it would revive. They intended to have a new building which would let in more light, cheerfulness and sunshine. Their busy brainfi and busy hands had been at work preparing the many useful, ornamental, and ar- ' tides of luxury to be seen on the stills. Their work bad been for God, and he hoped they would reap a good harvest, having plenty of buyers; and thus augment considerably their building fund. He had much pleasure in declaring the bazaar duly opened. Applause. The stalls were very tastefully laid out, and they were in charge of the undermentioned persons: Tea Kiosk: Mrs Leaper. St. John's Sunday School Bazaar' — The bazaar was continued in the Druids' Hall yesterday, when tbere was a large attendance and the takings exceeded those of the previous day. On Wednesday as reported £66 was taken, and yesterday £76 10s making a total for the two days of £142 10s The ladies who have worked hard for the bazaar appeared well satisfied with the results.
