London, June 9. There wag a magnificent spectacle
at the Olyrnpia games, when there were over 2000 entries of the pick of tho world's horses of all classes from America, the Continent, and England. Messrs Vanderbilt, Winans, and ''other lich Americans have already taken many prizes. Armour's grey draught horses at present have not competed. There were 17,000 preeent on tbe opening day. The King and Queen of Denmark aboard the Royal yacht Victoria and Albert, were escored by four cruisers from Flushing, and were welcomed by the Channel Fleet at Portsmouth, where the Prince of Wales received tbem. King Edward and Queen Alexandra met them at Victoria Station, and there was a State banquet and reception in the evening. Mad ame Melba sans. It is semi-officially stated in connection with the late negotiations between Britain and France over the New Hebrides that the question of an exchange of territory did not arise. Paris, June 9. M. Pichon, I'r French Minister of Foreign Affairs, 9ays that France should examine the proposedflim'tation of armaments without illusions pending unanimous decisions. - New York, June 9. The American Customs regulations embodied in the agreement with Germany declare that valuations' made by the Chambers of Commeroe may be officially converted. Tbe Government shall accept the evidence as to price of exports to Germany. The stipulation benefits France, but not Britain, where the Chambers of Commeroe are not official. It is hoped that the British Government will arrange to appoint agents to superintend valuations.
